Two month recap

My apologies to my blog followers...I have been AWOL these past two months.

I've made great progress despite dealing with a few setbacks along the way. Inspite of the holidays I did manager to lose weight. Some of that weight was due to illness :(.

We had a nice Thanksgiving with my family and friends. My mom and Grammy flew up here for a visit and it was nice to spend time with them. While they were here we also celebrated my Grammy's 80th birthday!!!

December began in a bit of a flurry, as the holiday months seem to rush on by. We began the month strong picking out our Christmas tree and putting all the ornaments on. We began to plan and anticipate Craig's trip to California to see family and attend our nephew Isaac's baptism. Then my back started to give me problems. After the third day I made an appointment with my doctor. The morning of the appointment my back was no longer hurting...but the tickle in my throat from the night before had turned into a full blown upper respiratory infection. Another 10 days of being sick. I was finally feeling better the Saturday before Christmas and even did some baking. Well the next morning I woke up to feelings of dizziness and nausea. It progressed to sensations of spinning and pulsing in my ear. I had to be rushed to Urgent Care where they diagnosed it as Labyrinthitis. I was not to drive for at least the next 5-7 days and possibly longer if the symptoms didn't improve. Gratefully my brother and his family took me in and I stayed at their home for the next 8 days. Symptoms came and went with some relief but was still experiencing dizziness and at time other symptoms. Saw another doctor the week of New Years who extended my time off another few days and gave me a different diagnosis: BPPV.

Another week later and I was finally going to be able to return to work after a month. Well I showed up for work and after two hours got sent home. The paperwork had not been received and finalized for my return. I was able to return the following day.

Gratefully the reoccurances have been minimal and the durations short. This week being the exception. I began getting the symptoms on Wednesday morning at work and tried for an hour to see if they would subside. They didn't and I had to go home early. They have continued the past few days and are starting to lessen. Meanwhile I have been waiting two weeks for a referral to the ENT, I called Friday to check on it and was told it was never started. On the plus side they said my insurance doesn't require a referral and to go ahead and call an ENT. I got a few phone numbers from the medical assistant and made my first phone call. They were happy to get me in but didn't have any openings until Feb 10th. So I booked the appointment and I am going to hope for some answers as well as a plan of action.

Now the real reason you are reading this blog...December, like I said I was able to lose weight though some of it was due to all the above. January has proven a little more of a plateau. I was up two pounds and then down two pounds and then down another pound and back up almost three pounds. I was teter totering back and forth within a four pound range...until today. Today I am down 7.2 pounds!!!

Total Weight Loss = 73.8 pounds since July 2014
